The Compact Power of Quarter-Turn

A butterfly valve is a quarter-turn rotary motion valve used to start, regulate and stop flow. The disc rotates 90° on a central shaft — fully open in one quarter turn, fully closed in another. REW manufactures butterfly valves from DN50 to DN2500, serving Pakistan's largest utilities, power plants and industrial facilities since 1948.

Six core configurations — Lever, Gear, Motorized, Wafer, Lug and Flanged — per BSS 5155, API 609 and EN 593 standards. Up to 60% lighter and more compact than equivalent gate valves, with bi-directional flow capability and bubble-tight sealing.

Fully Closed Position
Disc is perpendicular to flow, sealing against the elastomer seat. Zero flow passes through. The shaft is at 0° position with handle/actuator in closed position.

Opening Sequence
Quarter-turn rotation (90°) begins. Disc rotates on central shaft, gradually opening the flow path. Flow rate increases proportionally with disc angle.

Throttling Position
At 45° (half-open), flow is approximately 50% of maximum. Butterfly valves excel at throttling service with predictable flow characteristics.

Primary pressure-containing component. Cast in CI, DI, CS or SS. Houses the seat ring and supports the shaft. Wafer, lug or flanged design.
Disc
The closure element that rotates 90° to control flow. CI, DI, CS, SS or Alloy 20. Precision-machined for bubble-tight sealing against the seat.
Shaft / Stem
