The Guardian of Contamination-Free Flow

A diaphragm valve uses a flexible diaphragm to isolate the operating mechanism from the process fluid. This design prevents contamination and provides excellent shut-off for corrosive, abrasive, and sanitary applications.

REW manufactures diaphragm valves in Cast Iron, Cast Steel, and Stainless Steel body materials, available up to 300mm (12") diameter. Available with rubber, PTFE, or Teflon diaphragms for various service conditions.

How Diaphragm Valves Work

Open Position
The diaphragm is raised, allowing fluid to flow freely through the valve body. The operating mechanism is isolated from the process fluid by the flexible diaphragm.

Closing Sequence
The handwheel or actuator compresses the diaphragm downward, gradually restricting the flow path and reducing flow rate.

Fully Closed
The diaphragm is fully compressed against the valve body weir, creating a bubble-tight seal and completely stopping flow.

Contamination-Free Operation
The flexible diaphragm completely isolates the operating mechanism from the process fluid, preventing contamination and ensuring sanitary operation.

Every Component Engineered

Body
Primary pressure-containing component. Available in Cast Iron, Cast Steel, or Stainless Steel. Houses the weir and flow passage.
Bonnet / Cover
Covers the body opening and houses the diaphragm and compressor. Bolted design for easy maintenance and diaphragm replacement.
Diaphragm
Flexible membrane that isolates the operating mechanism from process fluid. Available in rubber, PTFE, or Teflon for various service conditions.
Compressor
Compresses the diaphragm against the weir to close the valve. Connected to the stem and handwheel or actuator.
Stem
Transmits handwheel or actuator motion to the compressor. Stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance.
Weir
Raised surface in the valve body against which the diaphragm seals. Provides the sealing surface for bubble-tight shut-off.
